This is a tough one.
Last week, I lost one of my best flying buddies…my son Corey.
I’ve written before that I have several criteria as to what gets published here in FlyBoyz. One of those criteria is that I need to have some personal connection to the material being published. Well, this is about as personally connected as it gets.
While Corey was not a modeler, he did enjoy (or was it tolerate?) me showing him the various planes I was working on or planning to work on. He also accompanied me to the flying field on occasion and was a neophyte Control Line flyer. He had mastered wing-overs and loops and was proud of it!
At the young age of 27, his death was unexpected and still unexplained. He leaves a wife, 2 young daughters, and a heartbroken family.
So why am I writing this post? Corey was a loving husband and father and his strongest wish was to provide for his family. He was able to do that while he was alive but now he cannot do that. So in his honor, a Memorial Fund has been set up for the exclusive purpose of helping to support Corey’s dream of giving his two girls a good education and a secure future.
In the past, I’ve never really asked for anything from my FlyBoyz readership, but now I’d like to reach out to all of you. If you have enjoyed or received value from anything presented in FlyBoyz over the past years, I would ask that you please consider making a donation to help my sons family. The amount you donate is entirely up to you. Any amount would be appreciated, nothing is too small. And I would be forever grateful.
If interested, there is a link box in the top right hand sidebar on every page of FlyBoyz. It is labeled ‘Corey O’Neill Memorial Fund‘. Just click the link and you’ll be taken to the donation site. 100% of all donations will go directly to Corey’s girls.
I thank you in advance for your support!
And I look forward to getting back to the planes as soon as possible.
