Five years ago, I published a review of a great coffee table style book by David Glen called ‘Spitfire in my Workshop‘. (You can read the FlyBoyz post here: Spitfire in my Workshop). And now, I’m here to present David Glen’s latest ‘workshop‘ book called ‘Mustang in my Workshop‘. And like it’s predecessor, this book is yet another beautiful, high quality, coffee table style book that is nothing short of a tour-de-force presentation of what has to be the premier Mustang model ever built!
David Glen is an English Master Modeler who has built the ultimate Mustang model. The book, which was written by the modeler himself, is a detailed and step-by-step account of the construction of a museum model masterpiece.
Everything that I wrote about David’s earlier Spitfire book applies to his newest Mustang book so I would encourage you to read my earlier post to gain an understanding of the presentation of this book. Given that, and rather than repeat myself in this post, I will just point out a couple highlights of this book.
I will start out by saying that if you enjoyed the Spitfire book, you will enjoy this one even more since it contains almost 100 more pages than the first! And all those extra pages are filled with even more photos and construction descriptions.
The format of the book is the same as the Spitfire book in that each chapter basically presents the construction detail and photos for each section of the plane. At the end, the book describes locating the finished model to the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, England.
Here are some photos which highlight the contents of some of the Mustang construction chapters of the book.

Available as a hardback and complete with dust jacket, the book boasts 288 large format pages (325 x 254mm), almost 600 color images and weighs in at a hefty 5.07lb (2.3kg).
The book retails at £54.99. Shipping to the USA is £29.65. Payment is easily made through PayPal which also takes care of the currency exchange rate. When I ordered my copy, I paid a total of $120.68 (US Dollars). This is admittedly a bit pricy for a book but this is much more than just a ‘book’. It is an invaluable teaching aid that is worth every page of inspiration and education that it repays you with.
